The Covid-19 pandemic has made this a difficult and trying year for everyone. We want to express our utmost appreciation and respect for all front-line workers and service men and women who continue to protect and serve our communities. We hope you and your families stay safe and healthy as we press on through this challenging time.

• Upload Your Documents to Our Secure Portal:
  In light of COVID-19 and in the interest of our clients and our community, we will be minimizing client meetings until it is safe to resume normal business practice. We offer a secure, password-protected personal portal (kbdtax.cchifirm.us) to transfer, store and access your tax documents, tax returns and other financial documents to help expedite return preparation.
• Drop Off Service
  With busy schedules and crowded calendars, you're looking for ways to make the most of your time. Our Drop Off Service may be just what you're looking for. Simply mail your documents to the office.
  • Gather your tax documents such as W-2s, 1099s, mortgage statements, etc.
  • Download, print, and complete the 2020 Income Tax Organizer and include it in with your tax documents.
  • Simply choose one of the following:
  • Mail it via UPS/FedEx or US Priority Mail to our office (trackable method)
  • Scan and email us your documents
  • Fax to 412-421-9259
  • We will contact you within 48 hours upon receiving your information.
  • When your return is complete, we will contact you to review the return and get your approval so it can be e-filed

• Before your appointment, please complete our 2020 Income Tax Organizer. It will help you organize your documents and streamline our appointment.
• We begin your appointment by asking questions. We want to make sure we understand your specific situation. We spend time addressing your specific issues or concerns that affect your tax situation.
• Second, we review your tax documents with you. We often find that through the Interview, there are documents that are missing, incomplete or require further discussion.
• Depending on your documents and the need for additional information, we may be able to complete the preparation of your return during your appointment. If not, we will schedule a time for your return.
• Last, we review the completed return with you. Our focus is not just on the bottom-line - your refund or amount owed - but on the reasons for that result. More importantly, we identify stratgies and goals for the coming year that can ensure that next year's return will have a better result.
  
  This is particularly important because of the impact of the new tax law changes on your tax return. There are actions that you can take to ensure you can increase your refund - or minimize the amount owed. We want you to understand so you can act on these strategies.

1. Photo ID.
2. Social Security Cards or comparable documentation for you, your spouse (if applicable) and all dependents.
3. Income related documents: Forms W2, Unemployment compensation statements, SSA 1099, 1099R, other 1099 forms and any other relevant tax documents.
4. Expense related documents: Checks and forms showing federal and state taxes paid, 1098 forms, documentation of medical, dental, charity, or business expenses, any vehicle and property taxes, and mortgage interest paid. Receipts for expenses need to be in reasonable order and legible.
5. Brokerage statements or other documentation showing the cost basis (purchase price) and date purchased for all securities or property sold or transferred during the tax year.
6. If you receive a pension or annuity from a former employer, please bring the date that you began to receive payments. (In some cases, this is required.)
7. Health insurance information: You must show evidence you had health insurance coverage. However, Congress eliminated the penalty for lack of health insurance effective january 1, 2019.
   1. Bring health insurance coverage information for you, your spouse and all dependents, including your Medicare, Medicaid, Health Plan Card, etc.
   2. If you purchased health insurance through the Exchange (healthcare.gov) you must bring Form 1095-A with you. In addition, we will need the tax return/tax documents of every dependent claimed on your return (especially if the dependent is filing their own return).
8. A check with your name printed on it for direct deposit/debit of any refund/balance due. A check in your checkbook is acceptable. A cancelled or voided check is not required, as the check will be returned to you.
